What's Happening This Weekend in Summerville, Ridgeville and Charleston (Oct. 9-12)

The short version: It's Ghostwalk weekend in Summerville. Saturday night, Oct. 10, downtown turns into ghost stories, games, vendors and food trucks. Here's everything happening Friday through Monday, from Ridgeville and Summerville to Charleston.

Featured: Ghostwalk

  • When: Saturday, Oct. 10, 6 to 9 p.m.
  • Where: Hutchinson Square, 102 S. Main St., Summerville
  • What: vendors, food trucks, games and guided ghost story walks around Hutchinson Square, Gum Street, Magnolia and West Richardson Street
  • Who it helps: it's a Junior Service League fundraiser for Dorchester District Two and District Four schools
  • Tickets: pre-sale tickets are on the Junior Service League's Zeffy page. The ticket page lists a guided story tour and an optional haunted house (marked PG-13)
  • Heads up on roads: Little Main closes from W. Doty to Richardson from 4 to 10 p.m. Plan to park and walk

Friday, Oct. 9

  • Summerville: Ice Cream Social, an Elevation Church community event, 5 to 7 p.m., Hutchinson Square
  • Everywhere: Friday night high school football. Check your school's schedule for kickoff
  • North Charleston: Riverfront Revival, Day 1. Darius Rucker's two-day country music festival at Riverfront Park
  • Moncks Corner: Education Day at the Wassamasaw Tribe Powwow, Old Santee Canal Park. Groups are welcomed starting at 9 a.m.

Saturday, Oct. 10

  • Ridgeville: community food distribution, 9 a.m., Ridgeville Town Hall. First come, while supplies last
  • Moncks Corner: Wassamasaw Tribe Annual Powwow, Old Santee Canal Park, 900 Stoney Landing Rd. Check the tribe's website for times
  • Charleston: St. Matthew's Lutheran Church 10th Annual Oktoberfest, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., 405 King St. Free entry, rain or shine. Food and drinks are for sale
  • North Charleston: Riverfront Revival, Day 2. Lineup includes Darius Rucker, Old Dominion and Nelly. Single-day tickets started at $135
  • Summerville: Ghostwalk, 6 to 9 p.m., Hutchinson Square (details above)

Sunday, Oct. 11

  • Summerville: Let's Beat Breast Cancer Rally, 2 to 3:30 p.m., Hutchinson Square. A breast cancer awareness event for the community
  • Mount Pleasant: Palmetto Park Jam at Palmetto Islands County Park, 444 Needlerush Pkwy. Gates open at 11 a.m. Live music, food and craft vendors. Bring a lawn chair or blanket
  • Charleston area: Sunday Market at American Gardens, a weekly market with local flowers and artisans

Monday, Oct. 12

  • Columbus Day, a federal holiday. Post offices and banks are closed
  • No major public events are listed on the Town of Summerville or Charleston visitor calendars
